Osmajic on the brink of a move

Preston North End are looking to replace striker Milutin Osmajic, who could leave before the September 1 transfer deadline, with Tom Cannon, Cameron Archer and Adama Sidibeh on the radar. Osmajic has scored 25 goals across three full seasons for the club, but his contract is set to expire next year and Genoa are reportedly closing in on a deal for the 27‑year‑old. The Italian side would pay an upfront fee to Preston, followed by staggered payments, according to Alan Nixon.

Tom Cannon – a familiar face

Cannon is a former Preston loanee who impressed with eight goals in 20 Championship appearances during a 2023 loan spell. He has since played for Stoke City, Leicester City and Sheffield United, the latter paying £10 million for him after a prolific spell at Stoke. In the current season Cannon has scored seven times in the Championship for the Blades, but he was an unused substitute in the 0‑0 draw with Swansea City. Sheffield United would need to negotiate a lower fee if Preston pursues the striker.

Cameron Archer – a Premier League option

Archer, who also spent time on loan at Preston in 2022, netted seven goals in 20 appearances for the club. He has since featured for Middlesbrough and Sheffield United in the Premier League and is now on the books at Southampton. Archer was on the bench in Southampton’s 3‑1 win over Stoke City, and his wages are considered high, which could be a stumbling block for Preston.

Adama Sidibeh – a League One hot‑shot

Sidibeh is a live candidate to replace Osmajic, according to Nixon. The Stockport County striker has scored 10 goals in 25 appearances since joining from St Johnstone in January 2026. His form helped Stockport reach last season’s League One play‑off final, where he scored in a 4‑0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers. Sidibeh has not featured for Stockport in the 2026/27 season due to a hamstring injury sustained against Preston in pre‑season, but he is close to returning and may attract interest from Championship clubs.

Preston’s next move

With the transfer window closing on September 1, Preston North End must decide whether to let Osmajic go and secure a replacement. The club is weighing options across the Championship and League One, balancing performance, wage demands and transfer costs. The decision will shape the squad for the rest of the season and beyond.
