Preston North End have made the worst start to a league season in their history, losing seven of their first eight Championship matches. The grim statistic was confirmed after a 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers, a result that leaves the Lilywhites 23rd in the table with only four points.
That solitary win came against Blackburn Rovers at Deepdale, but six defeats have piled on the pressure. The club's expected goals differential of -4.2 is among the worst in the division. Their recent form shows one win, one draw and three losses from the last five outings.
Their trip to Loftus Road on Thursday saw them twice take the lead through Johnny Kenny, only to be pegged back late by Paul Smyth's 90th-minute equaliser. It extended a poor run at the ground, where Preston have failed to win in their last three visits.
With the next match at home to Millwall on 10 October, Preston must find a way to turn their season around quickly to avoid a prolonged relegation battle.
