Preston Pierce, a suspect in the Gretchen Fleming disappearance case, has been extradited to Parkersburg, West Virginia, after being arrested in North Carolina. Pierce was brought to Parkersburg by two Parkersburg Police detectives who traveled to Buncombe County, North Carolina to get him. They arrived around 5 p.m. Thursday. He was booked immediately after arriving, before being taken to the Wood County holding cell. Pierce is currently being held in custody pending arraignment in Wood County Circuit Court. The court date for that arraignment has not been scheduled yet. Pierce will be moved to regional jail after his arraignment. Earlier this week, Pierce waived his right to an extradition hearing allowing for his return to Parkersburg. The Wood County Grand Jury indicted Pierce on charges of First-Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Kidnapping, and Disposal of a Deceased Human Body in connection with the December 2022 disappearance of Gretchen Fleming. Pierce was asked questions during his return but refused to make any comments.
