Preston's Jusef Erabi was disappointed that the team couldn't get a result on the opening day of the 2026/27 Championship season but was pleased to score his second goal for the club in as many games. North End were beaten 2-1 by Bolton at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, despite having a number of chances to grab something from the match. Jusef said: “I’m really devastated that we couldn't get the win. For me, the most important thing is to win. We had a nice feeling last week after winning. “I wanted to keep on going with that, to keep on building that good mood. So, really disappointed that we couldn't get the win.” After signing for North End on a season-long loan from Genk, the forward has started life at the club brilliantly with two goals in his first two appearances for the club, alongside scoring a penalty in PNE’s shootout win over Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup Round One. Jusef halved the Lilywhites’ deficit at Bolton with a brilliant header after coming on as a substitute and he was quick to thank Andy Vukčević for his role in the goal following the match. The striker said: “It feels really nice to be able to contribute to the team with a goal and hopefully we can just keep on going. We all know that Andy is a really good crosser, so you just have to position yourself in the box and create the best position for yourself to be able to score. “Milly really helped me by running to the near post. He took his defender with him and then I just stayed at the far post ready for the cross to come. I just tried to do as good as possible to finish it. “Every training session, every week that goes by, I feel like I get more connected to the team.” PNE were backed by 4,400 away fans in Bolton and their support was clear for everyone to hear throughout the match. After feeling the love from North End supporters at a game for the second time, the Swedish attacker can’t wait to play in front of a home crowd at Deepdale. Jusef stated: “It feels amazing. It's where every player wants to be. The fans cheering them on and giving them even more energy. I'm a really energetic player and I love to bring energy for the team, for the supporters. “It felt like a home game, the way they supported us and the way they shouted. It was amazing. “Next week will be my first real home game. We're really looking forward to it. We'll finally be at home and hopefully bring the win.” League standing: 19th in Championship, 0 pts, 0W-0D-1L from 1 games, recent form L.
