Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has played down speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at Preston North End.
The 54-year-old, who took over at Valley Parade in November 2023, has a long association with Preston as a former player. He was asked about the links following Paul Heckingbottom's departure from Deepdale last weekend.
"I don't think it's the first time I've been linked with Preston North End because of my history there," Alexander said. "My relationship is well documented over many, many interviews for the last two decades on what happened with me at that particular club."
He added that his immediate focus is solely on preparing his Bradford side for their Championship match at Luton this Saturday. "When you're winning games and you're consistently winning games season in, season out, of course, there's going to be a spotlight and a profile on whoever's impacted on those results," he said.
Alexander has guided Bradford to a 49 per cent win record since his appointment. The speculation comes as Preston, who sit 23rd in the Championship with just three points from seven games, search for a new boss. Their recent form shows one win and four defeats from their last five outings, including a 1-0 home loss to Lincoln last time out.
Other names mentioned in connection with the role include Steve Cooper, Rob Edwards, Dave Challinor and Sean Dyche. For now, Alexander's attention remains fixed on his current job. Preston's next match is away to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, 19 September. They will be without the injured Ali McCann and Brad Potts for that trip to Loftus Road.
